Motivational & Daily Hope

"A person is a person because of other people." — Ubuntu

Monday mornings have a way of reminding us how much we're carrying — bills, work, family, worry about the month ahead. It's a lot for one set of shoulders.  But nobody in this community carries anything entirely alone. The neighbour who watches your kids for an hour. The stranger who tops up someone else's electricity meter. The auntie who always has an extra plate at dinner. These aren't small things — they're the whole point.  Whatever you're carrying today, look for the hands already reaching toward you.

Drop a 🤝 in the comments if someone showed up for you this week — and tag them so they know it mattered.

Township Stories and Realities - Six Years Ago

Six years ago, Thandeka queued for a plate at a feeding scheme after school. Today, she's in her second year of nursing college.

“I used to think that pot of food was just getting me through the week,” she says. “Now I understand it was buying me time — time to actually focus on school instead of worrying about whether we'd eat that night.”

Thandeka still comes back most weekends. Not for a meal this time, but to help serve one, alongside the same community kitchen that once fed her. “I want the kids in that queue to know it's not the end of their story. It's just one part of it.”

Stories like Thandeka's are the reason we track every meal, every rand, every volunteer hour — because the goal was never just today's plate. It's what that plate makes possible next.

Call to Action

Township Stories & Realities - Calls to Action & Mobilisation

Winter isn't finished with us yet — and neither are the blankets we still need to hand out.💚

Temperatures are still dropping below 5°C some nights, and we have 87 households on our list still waiting for a blanket. Most are elderly residents living alone, or families with newborns.   💕

R120 covers one thick, warm blanket, delivered directly to a household on our list this week. R350 covers a full winter care pack — blanket, socks, and a hot water bottle.

💕 We're not asking anyone to solve winter. We're asking for help getting through the next two weeks.
