Township Stories and Realities - 860 School Lunches

860 school lunches packed this week by 14 volunteers before 6am.

Behind that number: retired teachers, off-duty nurses, and university students who give up their early mornings to chop vegetables and portion maize meal.

Three local suppliers gave us discounted produce this week, which meant we could add extra protein packs to Thursday's batch.

We track every parcel from donation to delivery, because our partners deserve to know exactly where their support lands — and because the families we work with deserve that same honesty.

Businesses looking for a hands-on CSI partner: send us a message. We'll show you exactly what your support builds. Email us at admin@clrfoundation.com or donate to help the township people - https://www.clrfoundation.com/donate-1

And here is a video about how hunger affects our children.

Township Stories and Realities - Sipho is 11

Sipho is 11. For months, he skipped breakfast, so his younger sister could eat before school.

That changed when the feeding scheme started at his primary school this year.

Now both Sipho and his sister get a hot meal before the first bell rings.

He says he concentrates better in math class, and he's stopped worrying about lunchtime.

His mother works long shifts as a domestic worker and does everything she can to keep her children fed and in uniform.

The school kitchen — run by two local mamas and a handful of volunteers — has become one less thing she has to carry alone.

R15 covers one hot meal for a child like Sipho.

Motivational & Daily Hope

"However far the stream flows, it never forgets its source." — African Proverb

It's easy to feel far from where you started — from the people who fed you when you had nothing, the neighbours who checked in during hard months, the community that held you up before you could stand on your own.

Today, take a moment to remember your source.

Call the person who helped you when it counted.

Thank the auntie down the road.

Pass on what was once passed to you.

Community isn't a moment in time — it's a current that keeps moving, as long as we keep it flowing.

Tag someone today who has been part of your "source" — someone who helped shape who you are.
