Township stories and realities - The Elderly

Growing older should never mean becoming invisible.

There are elderly people in our communities who have spent their lives working, raising families and contributing to society.

Today, some struggle to afford basic food and necessities.

They shouldn't have to feel forgotten.

Sometimes helping doesn't require a fortune.

A food parcel.
A visit.
A conversation.
A small act of kindness.

Sometimes the greatest gift we can give someone is reminding them that they still matter.

Township stories and realities -The Children We Don't See

Every child deserves the chance to dream beyond their circumstances.

A child living in poverty doesn't dream of being poor.

They dream of becoming a teacher.
A doctor.
An engineer.
A business owner.
A footballer.
An artist.

Sometimes what stands between a child and that dream isn't ability.

It's a school uniform.
A textbook.
Stationery.
A safe place to learn.
Or simply someone who believes in them.

Education doesn't just change a child's day. It can change the direction of an entire life.

Township stories and realities - A Happy Lindiwe

We read Lindiwe every comment you left her. All 12 of them.

She listened sitting on the floor of the reading corner, aircraft book on her lap.

A nurse.

A teacher from Polokwane.

A man who wanted to be a taxi driver and now owns three.

A pilot from Durban who said she's exactly right about taking off into the wind.

The pilot was her favourite. She asked us to write his name down so she can "check him on Google" when she's older.

Then she asked if we had a book about air traffic controllers, "in case the pilots need help." We don't. Yet.

Got a children's book about flight, space or how machines work? Message us. Lindiwe has her own list now.
