Township Stories & Realities - A Setswana Proverb

“Kgomo ya moshate e jewa ke sechaba.” A Setswana proverb: what belongs to the community feeds the whole community.

Today, somewhere across our townships, volunteers are sorting blankets, mamas are stretching a pot to feed one more mouth, and a teenager is walking someone's granny to the clinic. None of them are waiting to be thanked. They're just doing what needs doing.

That's the quiet, steady kind of strength that keeps a community standing through a hard winter. Not one dramatic rescue — a thousand ordinary Saturdays like this one.

Call to Action

If someone in your community shows up like this, without needing recognition for it, tell us about them in the comments.
