Today is the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste.
Tshepo marks it the same way he does every Tuesday: in a borrowed bakkie at 5am.
He drives to the fresh produce market and collects what traders can't sell.
Carrots with a bend in them.
Spinach a day past looking pretty.
Tomatoes too soft for the shelf but perfect for a stew.
By 8am it's in Mama Dikeledi's pots.
Food that was headed for the bin ends up on a child's plate instead.
The only thing that slows Tshepo down is fuel.
