Bab' Elias doesn't read much himself these days—his eyes aren't what they were.
What he does is ride.
At 68, he spends two mornings a week on an old bicycle, collecting donated books from houses across three streets and bringing them to the reading corner.
He knows most of the families by name after thirty years in the area, and a fair number of the book donations happen because he's the one who knocks and asks.
He says it's an easy way to be useful without needing young knees for it.
