Mam' Busi
Mam' Busi wanted twenty tyres going before summer. She's at 14.
The new ones are planted with spinach and beetroot. Her two teenage helpers each have a tyre of their own now, and there's a quiet competition over whose spinach comes up first. Summer is the hard part. Every drop of water gets carried from the kitchen tap in the same basin she uses to bring the vegetables over. So the list has changed: a few big buckets, a second-hand watering can, and, in her words, "Mulch. Tell them mulch."
