Daily Message – Monday’s Focus: Worship God

Reference Scriptures

Acts 17:26-28 This God made us in all our diversity from one original person, allowing each culture to have its own time to develop, giving each its own place to live and thrive in its distinct ways. 27 His purpose in all this was that people of every culture and religion would search for this ultimate God, grope for Him in the darkness, as it were, hoping to find Him. Yet, in truth, God is not far from any of us. 28 For you know the saying, “We live in God; we move in God; we exist in God.” And still another said, “We are indeed God’s children.” (The Voice)
Something to think about:
Give God praise where it is due. God is the creator of all things. We would be alive if not for Him. No one could do what they do if it were not for Him. I know some do not believe in creation. Nor give God credit for our being. Do you, child of God, worship God? Do you give him praise?
Key Points:
  1. Why did I use the title ‘Worship (seek) God’? Take a look at Acts 17:23 “For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.” (KJV) Paul’s message to the members of the court revealed ‘the unknown God’ whom they worshiped. In verse 27 the KJV says ‘they should seek the Lord’. God is not lost. He is where you are so you can ‘find’ Him. [Matthew 7:7; Psalms 139:7-12; 145:18] Get to know the God you worship!
  2. All things exist because of God – John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and apart from him nothing was made that has been made.” (NHEB)
  3. Give God credit for the creation of all things – Colossians 1:16-17 “For by him were all things created that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (RKJNT)
Reference: Please take time to read Acts 17:22-34 (focus verses: 22-31; key verses 27-29). FYI, in the KJV Mars Hill refers to the Areopagus (click/tap for link to wiki) council (high court) in Athens, Greece.
Do you give God credit for your accomplishments? I just wanted to make you think about it. What have you done that God cannot get credit for? Think more on this, I recall the first time I took a good look at this. I struggled and wanted some credit because “I (a big I) worked hard…”. There was no way around it, if God had not created (we could stop here, but let’s consider a few things) the earth, Adam and Eve, the air we breathe, etc. Face it, there would be nothing without God. He is worthy of worship which is simple to perform acts of honor, respect and awe (obedient fear) in service to God the Supreme Being. Stay tuned for a deeper Bible study on worship, until then, be blessed –
