God is with you in the struggles of life!
Psalm 91:14-16 God says, “I will save those who love me and will protect those who acknowledge me as Lord. 15 When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will rescue them and honor them. 16 I will reward them with long life; I will save them.” (GNT)
Living a Christian life is no picnic, I smile as I
write this and reflect on my life, not the most inspiring way to begin.
Some believe the Christian life is filled with good times and
luxury–not so–have you read about the life of Christ? No residence of
His own; the torment, treated like a criminal and the humiliation at His
death. Or to go further, the lives of the Apostles sent to prison,
beheaded and stoned–have you read it? Let’s face it, we will struggle
even with our flesh and the desires tied to it. But thank God for His
Holy Spirit…
Never Alone
John 14:15-16 “If you love Me, you will do what I say. 16 Then I will ask My Father and He will give you another Helper [Comforter, Helper, Intercessor, Counselor, Friend, Encourager, Advocate, the Holy Spirit of truth]. He will be with you forever [always]. based on (NLV)
Do you understand who dwells in you and is always
with you? The all powerful God who is able to rescue, protect deliver
and be with you anytime you need Him. Oh, we need to pay close attention
to the word and words that are used in the word (I like that). What
does a ‘comforter’ do? Without Googling it or looking it up, can we
agree the Comforter brings or gives comfort? The Holy Spirit is so much
more but we will give more detail at another time.
Joy and peace
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (NIV)
- The Lord is our help our shield our strength and deliverer in time of trouble – from Psalms 33:20; 37:39; 70:5; 144:1-2
- The righteous delivered by wisdom and knowledge of God (see Godly Wisdom) – see Proverbs 3:5-7; 11:9 and 28:26; 1 Corinthians 3:18; James 1:5 [Isaiah 5:21; Galatians 6:3]
- We are protected from Satan, the evil one – John 17:15; 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 (2); 2 Timothy 4:17-18
The Lord knows how to deliver / rescue the godly in times of test, trials, sufferings and troubles. from 2 Peter 2:9
Who will God be with?
Are there conditions to His protection? If we begin with Psalms 91:14-16, we see who will benefit:
- those who know (acknowledge) God – Matthew 11:25-30 (27); Hebrews 8:7-13 (11)
- those who love God – Romans 8:28; 1 Corinthians 8:3; 1 John 4:20
- those who call on God [Psalms 50:15]
- those willing to endure suffering [Philippians 1:27-30; Philippians 4:1-9 (8-9); Colossians 1:24-29 (29)].
Paul confirms this 2 Timothy 3:10-17 see verses
10-11 “the Lord delivered me”. Peter also delivered from prison Acts
12:5-19 verse 11 “the Lord has delivered me…” {read Acts 27; Romans
15:22-33 (30-32); 2 Corinthians 1:8-11; 7:2-12 (5-7) and 11:22-33 (23-28
and 32-33)}
God is in those who are born again
Do you know, love and call on God? You too can
expect God to deliver you. If you are born again and are living a
Christian life, God dwells in you, so He is with you at all times. So
remember, you are never alone in the struggles of life. Your helper,
comforter, intercessor, counselor, friend, encourager and advocate the
Holy Spirit is there with you. Learn to depend on Him, allow Him to
comfort you during your struggles. You are not alone!
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (RKJNT)
In conclusion
Abides with you forever
There may be times when you cannot feel God or you
feel like no one cares. Hopefully, you will find comfort in knowing
that Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit will be with you forever. You
are never alone in the struggles of life, be blessed!
John 14:15-18 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray to the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;
17 That is the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because
it does not see him, neither does it know him: but you know him; for he
dwells with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you
comfortless: I will come to you. (RKJNT)
