Mrs Mahlangu's list had eleven names.
As of today, 5 of those children have a graded reader of their own.
10 books came in last week: 5 bought through donations at about R30 each, and 2 dropped off by families whose children had outgrown them.
The hardest to find are still the home-language readers.
We now have 6 in isiZulu, 2 in Sesotho and 2 in Setswana.
Each book gets the child's name written inside the cover and goes home in a school bag, not back on the shelf.
Every Monday, Mrs Mahlangu checks whether it got read over the weekend.
Help us finish the list. R30 covers one graded reader through the link below. We'll post when the eleventh name is crossed off.
